Protect Your Power Tools and Equipment

Wednesday, October 28, 2009 0 Comments

We recently had a need to replace the air compressor we have had for many years. We went to Home Depot to check out their line of air compressors and did find one that would work for us. But is was a much larger and more expensive one than we currently had.
Such purchases are important to add to your home inventory list because without proof of purchase (receipt) and details such as purchase price, model number and serial number - you would not be reimbursed for the upgrade but for a standard model.

Are you an avid skier? Do you spend every week-end boating? Do you enjoy working on cars and as a result, have an extensive inventory of Craftsman tools?
If damage or theft were to occur to your home, garage or pole barn - would you be able to recall all the items associated to your hobby? Having an inventory of those items, determines not only how quickly you can resume your hobby but ensures you will receive a settlement covering the full extent of the loss.

Document Your Home Remodeling Projects

Wednesday, October 07, 2009 0 Comments

It is very beneficial to document all the remodeling projects that you do to your home. 1) Remodeling typically increases the value of your home and as a result, you may need to update the value of your homeowners policy. An inventory provides the details that provides the proof of the added value to your home. 2) Assists with getting an accurate appraisal of your home. 3) If you are selling your home, you can reference the inventory report to show potential buyers what improvements you have made to your home.

Home Inventory Protects Possessions While In Storage

Sunday, October 04, 2009 0 Comments

If you are moving and need to temporarily put items in storage or you are remodeling and need to get things out of the way or maybe you just need to declutter but aren't ready to throw things away - whatever it is, protect those items while they are being stored. The best thing to do is to have an inventory taken of those items. It will provide all the required information needed, including photos and video, to file an insurance claim due to damage or theft. If addition, if you need to quickly retrieve an item -your inventory list will also include the box number. So instead of guessing what box the item is in - you can go right to it.

Protect Your Savings and Retirement Funds

Friday, October 02, 2009 0 Comments

If you don't have a home or business inventory - you are putting your savings and retirement funds at risk. How is this possible?
If the unfortunate were to occur and your home was destroyed or damaged, in order to start rebuilding your life and replacing your possessions, you need to submit an insurance claim. Along with that claim, you are required to submit a detailed list of the items damaged or destroyed - along with proof of ownership and value. The longer you are delayed in putting this together - affects when you receive your settlement and how much you will receive. As a result, you may need to dip into your savings or retirement funds - to start rebuilding your life.
An inventory keeps your savings and retirement funds untouched.

Do You Know What Is In Your Homeowners Insurance Policy?

Thursday, October 01, 2009 0 Comments

Be prepared if the unfortunate occurs to your home, by knowing if you have Replacement Cost coverage or Actual Cash Value coverage.
Replacement Cost means you will be covered for the cost of replacing or repairing your home or possessions up to your coverage limits. There is no depreciation involved with Replacement Cost. Actual Cash Value is Replacement Cost minus depreciation. If you have Actual Cash Value, you will get very little from the insurance claim because of the deduction for depreciation based on the age and condition of what was lost or damaged.
It is your choice to make - take the time to review your policy and know what is stated in your policy - before something happens.
To further protect you and your home - make sure you have a Home Inventory completed. For further information on a Home Inventory, visit www.jlksystems.com
